SunUra – Then and now
SunUra was founded in Espoo in 2013 by a group of professionals working to support the employment of long-term unemployed individuals and people with partial work ability. From the very beginning, our work has been grounded in strong responsibility — a value that continues to guide us to this day.
Since 2016, we have expanded our operations beyond Espoo to the Pirkanmaa, Häme, and Uusimaa regions. In December 2019, SunUra became part of Mielen ry, a mental health and substance abuse association, through a business acquisition. Some of our original founders remain actively involved in SunUra’s work to this day.
Social Responsibility at the Core of Our Strategy
Social responsibility is at the heart of everything we do. We are a Social Enterprise, which means we have been granted the right to use the Social Enterprise Mark as recognition of our successful integration of business and societal goals. Our commitment to responsible business practices was also acknowledged with the Kasvu Open #ResponsibilityAct recognition in 2022.
Our operations are guided by our values – customer orientation, responsibility, authenticity, and joy – which are reflected in our daily work. These values form the foundation on which we develop our services and grow our operations in line with our strategy. Our goal is to be a leading player in our field and a trusted partner in promoting employment for those in a weaker position in the labor market.
SunUra as Part of the Mielen ry Group
Since 1991, Mielen ry has provided growth, housing, and outpatient services to support mental well-being. The Mielen ry Group consists of SunUra Oy and Kiinteistö Oy Muotialan Asuinkeskus, which is 100% owned by Mielen ry.
